On February 24th, empirica hosted a transatlantic event “SINTEG-Roadshow USA”. More than 60 grid operators, scientists, researchers, ministry officials, and entrepreneurs have participated in the dialogue on the future of the energy transition between New Jersey, USA, and SINTEG-Project*, Germany.
In the first part of the event, participants exchanged the key overview of the energy sectors in Germany and USA with a focus on flexibility, sector coupling, and grid congestion management. The German side presented an overview of the SINTEG Project, its meaning to the German and European energy transition process also touching on Green Deal and Germany Trade and Invest’s Energy services. More detailed information on SINTEG solutions was provided by showcases’ managers: Markus Graebig (WindNODE), Torsten Knop (DESIGNETZ), Ole Langniß (C/sells), and Sirkka Porada (enera).
The USA partners provided a thorough insight into East Cost grid status and ambitious policy plans for New Jersey. Top-level energy companies SurfWEC, Andluca, Princeton NuEnergy, Xpeed turbine and Power Edison pitched their breakthrough technologies in the energy sector.
The second part of the event focused on communication and networking and consisted of two smaller breakout room. Participants circulated through the rooms and German and US speakers joined in a vivid exchange of energy sector entrepreneurship and cutting-edge technologies. Each Breakout room addressed two topics:
- How can demand flexibility support and accelerate the market for renewable energy?
- How can big data and digitization optimize investment planning for renewables and grid integration?
These lively dialogues allowed the speakers to discuss the working processes, challenges and difficulties on the state and regional levels as well as its possible solutions. Due to Covid-19, the conference was hosted entirely in MS Teams. The visual recording documents the results, you can watch the video of the development here.
