Prognostic Models to Improve Wellbeing and Return to Work After Neck and Low Back Pain

Start:

01.2018

End:

12.2020

Client:

DG CNECT, European Commission (EC)

Neck and Low Back Pain (NLBP) can be disabling conditions and are experienced by around 70% of all adults at some point in their lives, being the leading cause behind medical leave in Europe. The aim of the Back-UP project is to create a prognostic model for the more effective and efficient management of NLBP based on the digital representation of multidimensional clinical information, and in-silico assessments of possible interventions. Patient-specific models will provide a personalized evaluation of the patient case, using multidimensional health data. The model will enable progrnostics on recovery probability and duration, muskoskeletal function simulations as well as cost estimaes for NLBP management and return to work.
