Only 7% of our global economy is circular, and the healthcare sector is responsible for approximately 5% of greenhouse gases globally, and millions of tons of (mostly) non-hazardous waste due to the strong reliance on single-use products. The sector’s reliance on globally complex and fragile supply chains increases import dependency and there is therefore an urgent need to balance high-quality healthcare provision with responsible resource use, improved resilience and a reduced ecological footprint.
